Interpretations

EMS is committed to providing you and your clients with accurate and professional interpretations. We offer only accredited and certified “native tongue” interpreters who meet our stringent recruiting process. EMS works exclusively with full time professionals who have a post-secondary education in both pair languages.

We offer professional services for international congresses, conferences, colloquiums, symposiums, seminars, foreign client visits, trade shows and other multilingual meetings… A thorough examination of your event needs to be done and, our team will determine what type of interpretation is best suited for you and your client needs.

We will select qualified interpreters specialized in the event theme, and presentation topics, as well as advise you on the most adequate technical equipment.

Simultaneous Interpretations:
Simultaneous interpretations are the most frequently used form for conference settings. The interpreter speaks at the same time as the presenter, mostly through technical equipment such as a soundproof booth, headsets, microphones… and the interpretation(s) (target language(s)) reaches the attendees through headphones with channels for the different languages.

Interpreters work in teams of two and on 20 minutes shifts for each interpreter. The guidelines on team size, established over many years of professional practice ensure optimal quality in a highly demanding work environment.

Simultaneous Whispering:
Simultaneous whispering is usually performed in small business meetings with a maximum of two attendees per interpreters and, it requires two interpreters who work on 20 minutes shifts.

Consecutive Interpretation:
Consecutive interpretations are usually performed in smaller settings than conferences, and it’s mostly used at drafting committees, bilateral negotiations, interviews... etc. The speaker will present a few sentences before pausing and, thereafter the interpreter may render the interpretation into the target language.
