Translations
With EMS, you can count on creativity with ideas and knowledge from the best
translators, who will help you to re-enforce your presence within wide-ranging
markets.
EMS has a world wide scope of translators and coordinators
who are specialized in specific fields and share our expectations of quality.
That will allow us to delegate our regular clients’ projects to the same
trusted translators. Our translators are regularly informed of any revisions
made during proofreading, customer comments and terminology up-dates.
Each step
is organized and quality is controlled by having the document proofread by
a second translator/proofreader specialized in the document content. Frequent
common glossary up-dates and the use of “translation memory” software
also ensure that translations are accurate and relevant.
FAQS
Can EMS guarantee perfect translations?
No one who promises
perfection should ever be treated seriously. What we can guarantee is that
our team of professionals will manage your projects with proficiency and finely-tuned
procedures to provide consistently high-quality translations which meet the
needs and goals of our most demanding clients.
In
the event of a faulty or weak translation, we launch an inquiry to determine
the reason(s) for the shortcoming take remedial action and draw the appropriate
conclusion(s) to improve our overall quality. We appreciate client feedback.
What are the quality standards for EMS?
A good agency understands
the clients' idea and can propose an overall translation result that meets
their needs while respecting budgetary restrictions. Translation quality requirements
depend on the end use of it. Anyone who has worked in publishing knows how
many times the "text" is read before the final "signoff" at
the printer's. For example, an advertising slogan that will be on television
will require more attention than the translation of a business letter for internal
company use alone.
How can I be sure that I am dealing with a good and honest service
provider?
The relationship with your service provider must be taken
as an intimate part of your corporate team, like an accountant or lawyer,
an element which cannot be easily replaced. In the recruiting process, here
are a few details you must distinguish.
Ask
them if they have in-house translators and reviewers. Ask what kind of qualifications
these people have (most competent professional translators have advanced specialized
degrees). Ask how many years they have been in business. Ask for client references.
Look at their web site to get a general idea of their level of professionalism.
Test a new agency with a relatively small job first. When you do find a good
agency, keep it.
Do you use translation programs?
Such
automatic programs will never replace the flexibility, creativity, and required
judgment of the human mind even thou, today, the most recent software programs
are capable of remarkable results that would have seemed impossible a few years
back. In fact, serious language professionals know how to make full use of
IT possibilities while never disregarding the human factor. They utilize these
programs to existing translations for use in future translations; however,
the final translation material is ultimately controlled in the hands of the
translator/proofreader.
Which CAT programs do you use?
EMS works with most of the
currently available Computer-Assisted Translation programs such as “Trados” “Termium” and
other customer-designed database applications for terminology management.
Why not have our overseas branches do the translations?
This tempting solution is rarely the right one. Think of how few people write
well in their own language. The result is usually a big headache and a poor
translation that ends up costing your firm much more than if it had been outsourced
to a good agency in the first place. Furthermore, untrained personnel will
take significantly longer to come up with even a mediocre translation, and
lastly, your engineers and technicians have other important tasks to do with
their time.
How do you charge?
It depends on the requested
language selections and quantity of words per document. The rates include Translation,
Revision/Proofreading, and Basic Document Format. It excludes any post translation
formatting other than the “Basic”.
We will advise you if there are any additional charges for you to approve.
A Minimum Billing Charge (MBC) applies for a 200 words translation
document.
